Eighteen year old Melvin Womack has been arrested and charged with two
counts of arson, stemming from last Tuesdayís mobile home fire at
Lakewood Trailer Park that left his mother and her family homeless.
According to Captain Larry Fears of the Halifax County Sheriff's
Department, Womack intentionally set the fire following an argument
with his mother, Patricia Womack He was arrested at the scene and is
being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Detention Center in Halifax under
no bond. He is scheduled for arraignment in Halifax General District
Court on August 6.
The home occupied by his mother at Lot 127, Danielís Trail, was
declared a total loss while another owned by Patricia Ashworth suffered
damages. Deputy Keith Redd conducted the investigation into the blaze.
