Damages in a mid-day Tuesday accident involving two tractor trailers
resulted in some $15,000 in property damages. Virginia State Trooper
D.
D. Johnson charged 40 year old Ernest W. Padgette, Jr. of Iabel,
Oklahoma with failure to yield the right-of-way when he made an
unprotected left turn at the intersection of U.S Route 58 West and
State Route 931 around 12:51 p.m. on Tuesday. Padgette's 2005
tractor
trailer was struck by the 1996 tractor trailer operated by 55 year
old
Danny R. Craver of Danville. Damages to the 2005 tractor trailer
were
set at $5,000 while those to the 1996 tractor trailer were set at
$10,000. Both drivers complained of injuries, but neither was
transported for medical attention.
In an earlier accident on Sunday morning, May 6 around 1 a.m. the

vehicle. It then went off the left side, striking an embankment and
overturning.
The driver left the scene of the accident and was subsequently
charged
with reckless driving and hit and run by investigating Virginia
State
Trooper D. J. Cline. A passenger in the vehicle, Lawrence W. Davis,
47,
was transported for medical treatment. Damages to the car were
estimted
