The Virginia Workforce Center located at 1438 Seymour Drive, South Boston temporarily suspended business operations in preparation for relocation on Friday, August 10.
Today, August 13 and on Tuesday, August 14, the staff will complete packing and begin to move office files and equipment. A new location will be announced immediately upon confirmation of a site by the Department of Real Estate Services.
Beginning this Thursday, August 16, Workforce Investment Service staff along with Job Service and Trade Act representatives and, as scheduled, Veteran Services staff will be available at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center, 820 Bruce Street, South Boston.
Several staff will remain at the Seymour Drive location to answer service inquiries until Monday, August 20. The published main telephone number (434)572-8270 will be active as well as the Unemployment Insurance line for UI claims information or filing at 1-866-832-2363. The agency website is www.VaEmploy.com and job orders will be accepted on line by accessing Employer Services or calling our published number.
Announcements will be forthcoming by radio, website, newspaper and posted at the current location of hours of service and our new location. Letters will also be sent to all registered customers providing relocation information. “Thank you for your support and patience as we transition and continue to provide workforce services to our area,” said Linda Daniel of the Virginia Employment Commission.
