Five public hearings tap tonight

Halifax County Supervisors have five public hearings on their agenda for tonight's meeting which begins at 6:30 p.m. in the second floor meeting room of the Mary Bethune Complex. The first of those hearings deals with the relocation of the Meadville Election Precinct in ED#3  from its current site in Meadville Elementary School to the Sunnyside Baptist Center, located at 7114 Chatham Road (Route 57). The second hearing focuses on a request for a conditional use permit which will allow Korey R. Snead to have a commercial composting operation on the south side of South Terry's Bridge Road (Route 613) at its intersection with Easley Crossing Trail (Route 914). After the

request drew several comments in opposition, County Planners recommended that no decision be made on the request until more information is received from the applicant. The next public hearing focuses on a request from the Board of Supervisors themselves for a conditional use permit in ED#5 which would allow for the approval of an RV Campground of 22 spaces in front of the fairgrounds property on Route 360, just east of Plywood Trail. Planners
are recommending approval of the request. In the fourth public hearing Supervisors are being asked to approve a
conditional use permit for Claude Allen Haynes in ED#6 for an outdoor amusement/entertainment area for a music festival on May 22-28 on his farm which is located on the south side of Kerns Mill Road (Route 688), about a mile east of Hackberry Road (Route 656). Planners recommended approval of the permit with 16 conditions attached.
The final public hearing focuses on a request from Brian Hitchon in ED#7 for a conditional use permit to allow for a motorcross and ATV practice facility on the southeast side of East Hyco Road (Route 744), just off its intersection with Cherry Hill Church Road.
