South Boston's Town Planner Lee Pambid submitted his resignation on

Monday evening, March 12 to members of South Boston Town Council,
effective March 30. Pambid will be leaving to join Henrico County where
he will serve as a county planner.
Following a closed session on Monday evening, Council unanimously voted
to appoint Town Manager Ted Daniel as Zoning Administrator and Hope
Cole as Assistant Zoning Administrator effective April 1, 2007.
"I really hate to leave South Boston," Pambid said after Monday's
meeting. "It has been a real joy and pleasure working with Town Manager
Ted Daniel and the members of South Boston's Council and Planning
Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals. "But," he added, " I had to
make the move from a professional standpoint and I will gain a lot of
important experience in Henrico."
Pambid in his letter of resignation emphasized the need for a timely
replacement. "The community's current and future regulatory and
development land use issues require full time attention by a
professionally trained planning staff member. The range of topics
facing Halifax County and South Boston are many, and include but are
not limited to zoning and subdivision administration; site plan review;
downtown and neighborhood revitalization; comprehensive planning;
interface with county and state agencies on rural and agricultural
revitalization; comprehensive planning; interface with county and state
agencies on rural and agricultural issues, economic development; grants
application submission and administration and lately jut just as
important, information technology," he wrote.
Pambid, who has worked for South Boston for the past eight years, will
begin his new job on April 4. "Lee will do well in the urban planning
field, " Daniel said. "He's done a great job for us."
