On March 18, 2007, Margaret Jane Campa, 1044 James D. Hagood Highway,
was reported missing by her family. Margaret is described as a
Hispanic female, 15 years old, 5'5", hazel eyes, dark brown hair with
highlights, and was last seen in the Vaughan Street area of South
Boston wearing blue jeans and carrying a black duffel bag. Margaret
left several notes informing her family of her intended destination and
promising to contact them within a few days. Authorities now believe
that information to be misleading and are asking to help in locating
the Campa youth.
Within the last week, Margaret Campa has contacted several of her
friends locally by telephone but attempts to trace the calls have been
unsuccessful. One of the calls is believed to have been routed through
or made from a telephone in the Laurel, Maryland area. Law enforcement
officials in Maryland have been updated on Campa's disappearance and
are following-up on the telephone call. Officials with the Missing
Children Information Clearinghouse have also been advised of this
recent development.
Family members believe the young Campa may now be in the company of
unknown Hispanic adults, possibly with connections to the Honduran
community. Anyone having any information on the whereabouts of
Margaret Jane Campa is asked to contact Deputy David Irby or
Investigator Jimmy Clay with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office or any
law enforcement officer. You may also contact CrimeStoppers at
476-8477 or the Virginia Missing Children Information Clearinghouse at
1-800-822-4453. Thank you.
