DOLLAR GENERAL AWARDS $2,000 GRANT TO HALIFAX COUNTY/SOUTH BOSTON
REGIONAL LIBRARY
 
Youth Literacy Grant helps further literacy among students
 
GOODLETTSVILLE, TN у Dollar General announced today that Halifax
County/South Boston Regional Library has been awarded a $2,000 Youth
Literacy Grant. Halifax County/South Boston Regional Library is one of
91 organizations to receive this grant from Dollar General in 2007.
"Dollar General is committed to supporting schools and nonprofit
organizations that help children realize their full potential through
literacy and basic education," said David Perdue, Dollar General's
Chairman and CEO. "We applaud Halifax County/South Boston Regional
Library for their hard work and dedication to promoting literacy."
The Dollar General Youth Literacy Grants provide funding to schools,
public libraries and nonprofit organizations to help with the
implementation or expansion of literacy programs for students who are
below grade level or experiencing difficulty reading. More than 640
schools, libraries and nonprofit organizations submitted an application
for this grant.
Since its founding, Dollar General has been committed to supporting
literacy and education. To further this support, the company founded
the Dollar General Literacy Foundation in 1993 to improve the
functional literacy of adults by providing grants to non-profit
