Crystal Hill man is stabbing victim
A 65 year old Crystal Hill man, Henry Burch, was stabbed on Saturday morning, April 5, 2008 while at a residence on Chisholm Trail, located in the Liberty community. Burch suffered with stab wounds to the neck and chin from a broken beer bottle. Deputy J. O. Tanner responded to a call at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chishold Trail, but the victim had left the scene of the crime and was driving himself to the local emergency room for treatment. Deputies intercepted Burch near the parking lot of Wachovia Bank in Centerville and had him transported for treatment by the Rescue Squad. Tanner arrested 21 year old Perry Pointer of Chisholm Trail, charging him with the malicious wounding of Burch. According to Tanner, who was the first officer on the scene, Pointer fled the house where he and Burch had gotten into an altercation. Also present was Pointer's mother. Officers saturated the woods around the house and Pointer was soon apprehended. Pointer is now being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Adult Center in
Halifax with no bond set. Burch's condition was unknown at presstime.
John Medley of Semora, NC was shot on Wednesday, April 2 at 1 a.m. at a residence at 2126 Medley Road, Alton by an unknown assailant. Halifax County Sheriff's Deputies Tommy Sergeant, Fred Holland and Joey Adams
responded to the call . Medley was transported to Halifax Regional
Hospital by the Halifax County Rescue Squad and later was
transferred to Duke Medical Center, Durham, NC. Medley had wounds
to his back, side and legs from what looked like pellets from a
shotgun. This incident is still under investigation by the
Sheriff's office.
