South Boston Town Council will host a public hearing this evening on a request from Mrs. Jenny Wilkins to close and abandon an unopened alleyway east of 102 Merritt Street. The 20 foot by 301 foot alley runs behind Ms. Wilkins’ home and has not been in use.
Following the public hearing which begins at 7 p.m. in Council chambers on Yancey Street, members will name a Board of Viewers to decide if the closure would inconvenience the public in any way prior to Council’s making a decision on the request.
As always Council will entertain citizen comment before going into closed session to discuss a personnel matter.
