William E. Jones to become Executive Director of the Halifax County
Service Authority(HCSA)
Mr. William E. "Willie" Jones will become Executive Director of the
Halifax County Service Authority effective January 2, 2008. Mr. Jones
joins the HCSA from the Bedford County Public Service Authority, where
he has been executive director since 1987. Prior to his Bedford County
PSA position, he was public works director of the Town of Brookneal.
"We are indeed fortunate to find in Willie the experience needed as our
new authority begins consolidated utility operations in January," said
Doug Bowman, HCSA chairman. "He has traveled a similar journey with
the Bedford County PSA and will bring his extensive business and
operational successes in water and wastewater services to us," Bowman
added. With his leadership, the Bedford County PSA brought together a
unified utilities operations and management plan in a growing and
diverse geographic area. His beginning salary with HCSA will be $95,000
per year.
"A lot of hard work has gone into the creation of the Halifax County
Service Authority. I am honored by this exciting opportunity to help
with the cooperative efforts to better provide essential public
services," Mr. Jones stated.
A native and resident of Gladys, Virginia, Mr. Jones is a graduate of
the College of William and Mary. He is a member of several
professional agencies and associations.
He and his wife, Norah, have two grown daughters. He is active in
church and charitable activities and enjoys woodworking, gardening,
astronomy, and working on the family farm where he now lives as time
allows.
