South Boston Police are looking for the white male, described as being
in his mid 20's, who attacked and robbed a local man as he worked on
the building at 500 North Main Street late Thursday evening, October
25, 2007.
According to a report filed by Cpl. W. M. Garner, the victim was
working in his business when he observed a white male enter the
building, running at him with a knife. The victim was able to get the
knife away from his assailant, but during the assault, he was struck in
the head with a blunt object. The man then took an undisclosed amount
of money and the victim's wallet.
South Boston Police Captain B. K. Lovelace said the Halifax County
Sheriff's Department assisted with its K-9 tracking dog, which tracked
the suspect for a distance before losing the scent.
The victim, who was transported to Halifax Regional Hospital for his
injuries, was treated and released. He told investigators that the man
had a goatee and was wearing black pants, a black tee shirt and a mask.
Lovelace said the case is still under investigation, and if anyone has
additional information they are asked to contact Investigator Matt
Gilliam at (434)575-4273 or they may call Crime Stoppers at 575-TIPS.
