ED#7 School Board trustee Sandra Rister said yesterday she will seek re-election to her seat on the Halifax County School Board. Rister is completing her first term on the Board after being involved in the field of education for all of her adult life.
Rister taught for 34 years in schools in the Virginia Beach area where she started her career as a school librarian and later earned her Master's degree in media technology.
"I feel that I have a real overview of what not only classroom teachers and administrators need, but also what students and parents need since I've been involved with youth from kindergarten through grade 12.
She is proud of the accomplishments completed by the School Board and although she had some thoughts, she said, about not seeking re-election due to some personal losses, she is anxious to see the Board's work completed. "I want to assist in seeing that the taxpayers of Halifax County see the importance of the results of our new facilities and the opportunities they offer to our students."
