Halifax Town Councilmen will conduct a public hearing tomorrow night
(Tuesday) on the Town's proposed $1.6 million upcoming 2007-2008
budget. The hearing will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall.
The proposed budget includes no tax increases on real estate or
personal property and no increases in water and sewer fees for
either
in-town or out-of-town customers. The real estate tax will remain at
19
cents per $100 assessed value while the personal property tax
remains
at $1.68 per $100. The machinery and tool tax stands at 40 cents per
$100 value.
Following the public comment period, Councilmen are expected to set
approval and appropriation of funding for the coming year's budget.
Members are also expected to pass a resolution supporting the May 22
public hearing on VDOT's Six Year Improvement Program. They are also
expected to award a contract to Grindstaff Underground, Inc. for the
town's fiber optic project and to approve the removal of the
underground storage tank on Houston Street.
