Mrs. Ariel Coleman Thompson
Mrs. Ariel Coleman Thompson, 82, of 1111 John Logan Trail, Clover died
Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in
Saxe on March 28, 1925, a daughter of the late Mr. John Logan Coleman,
Sr. and Mrs. Effie Coleman Coleman and was married to the late Mr.
Byron Thompson. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, New York, NY.
She is survived by one son, Mr. Les Thompson of Clover; one sister,
Mrs. Edna Clark of Clover; one brother, Mr. Marcellus Coleman of
Clover; three grandchildren, Lance, Louis and Bryce; one niece, Ms.
Beverly Coleman and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 21 at 11:00 a.m. at
Crawford House Chapel with Rev. James Coleman officiating. Burial will
follow in Bethel Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Albert Ralph Vaughan, Sr.
Mr. Albert Ralph Vaughan, Sr., 79, died Sunday, November 18, 2007 at
his home. He was born June 13, 1928, a son of the late William Patrick
and Rebecca Elliott Vaughan and was married to Mary Yancey Vaughan. He
was a member of Aarons Creek Baptist Church, owner of Vaughan Service
Company and was a member of the William M. Tuck Airport Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Ronnie Dale Vaughan
and wife Janet of Alton, Darrell S. Suggs and wife Kim of Raleigh, NC
and daughters, Mary V. Griffin of Virgilina, Rebecca V. Harris and
husband Dan of Eastville; brothers, Bobby Vaughan of Fredericksburg,
Randy Vaughan of King George, Winn Vaughan of Chase City and Chester
Vaughan of Seabrook, TX; a sister, Hilma Carter of Clarksville; nine
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
a son, Albert Ralph Vaughan, Jr. and a daughter, Barbara L. Vaughan.
Memorial services will be private. Memorials may be directed to Halifax
Home Health and Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Avenue, South Boston, VA 24592 or
Midway Volunteer Fire Department, 11009 Bill Tuck Highway, Virgilina,
VA 24598.
Mrs. Alice Lee Edmunds
Mrs. Alice Lee Edmunds of Petersburg, formerly of Halifax County, died
November 17, 2007 at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg at
the age of 80. Born in Halifax County on July 16, 1927, she was the
daughter of the late Mr. Willie Lee and Mrs. Mary Strange Lee. She was
married to the late Mr. William Henry Edmunds and was a member of
Trinity Baptist Church.
Mrs. Edmunds is survived by two sons, Mr. Robert B. Edmunds of Florida
and Mr. Walter M. Edmunds of Colonial Heights, three daughters, Mrs.
Alice Anderson of Dinwiddie, Mrs. Mary E. Johnson and Ms. Yvonne D.
Edmunds, both of Petersburg, a brother, Mr. General W. Lee of Silver
Springs, MD, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two
daughters-in-law, Mrs. Diana Edmunds of Florida and Mrs. Ester Edmunds
of Colonial Heights, two sons-in-law, Mr. William Anderson of Dinwiddie
and Mr. Lonnie Johnson of Petersburg, a devoted friend, Mrs. Daisy
Pressley of Williamsburg and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends. A funeral service for Mrs. Edmunds will be conducted on
Saturday,
November 24 at 12 noon at the Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev.
James L. Carrington officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Garden
cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jeffress Funeral Home from
7 to 8 p.m on Friday evening.
