Mr. Wallace Anderson Comer
Mr. Wallace Anderson Comer, 53, of 4138 Wilson Road, Virgilina died
Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at his home. Born on March 20, 1954 in
Halifax County, he was a tobacco farmer and a member of North Fork
Baptist Church.
Mr. Comer is survived by his wife, Kay Whitlow Comer of the home, his
mother, Hazel Comer Tuck and his stepfather, Luther F. Tuck, Jr. of
South Boston, a daughter, Malisa Comer of South Boston and a son,
Jeffrey Comer of Virgilina, two sisters, Brenda Newton and husband,
Wade of Nelson and Joyce Lowery and husband, Roy of Virgilina, two
brothers, David Comer and wife, Sarah of South Boston and Ricky Comer
and wife Kathy of Halifax, three grandchildren, Ashton Hayes Hinshaw,
Gabriel Justin Walker and Caitlin Elizabeth Comer and two step sisters,
Susan Rickmond and husband, Ted of Saxe and Robin Arthur and husband
David of Hurt. She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Glen
"Buck" Comer.
A funeral service for Mr. Comer will be conducted on Saturday, October
13
at 2 p.m. at Florence Avenue Baptist Church with burial following in
the North Fork Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends
on Friday, October 12 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the
home. The family requests that those wishing to give memorials, please
consider the Florence Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund or the
American Lung Association, 6318 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019.

Infant Zeniya Shannae Ferrell
Infant Zeniya Shannae Ferrell died October 6, 2007 at Virginia
Commonwealth University Medical Center, Richmond.  She is survived by
her father and mother, Mr. James Ferrell and Ms. Tiffany Jones of South
Boston; two sisters, Ms. Tazionna Petty and Ms. Zeni Ferrell, both of
South Boston; her maternal grandmother, Ms. Lela Jones of South Boston;
her paternal grandmother, Ms. Inez Ferrell of South Boston, uncles,
aunts and other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by
her maternal grandfather, Mr. John Jeffreys.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, October 9 at Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church with Rev. Catherine Talley officiating.


Mr. King Shelton,
Mr. King Shelton, 99, of 2101 College Street, South Boston died Monday,
October 8, 2007 at Halifax Regional Hospital.  He was born in Jonas,
Alabama on July 21, 1908, son of the late Mr. William Shelton and Mrs.
Francis Motley Shelton and was married to Mrs. Hallie Harris Shelton.  
He was a member of Clover Apostolic Church and a Navy veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Mr. Robert Shelton
of Baltimore, MD; two step-sons, Mr. Gregory Coleman of South Boston
and Mr. Lewis Coleman of Alton; four step-daughters, Mrs. Francine
Bellamy of Statesville, NC, Mrs. Deborah Van Johnson of Atlanta, GA,
Mrs. Hervoline Betts and Mrs. Linda Crews, both of South Boston; one
foster son, Mr. Richard Henry, Jr. of South Boston; one God-daughter,
Mrs. Kristen Johnson of Charlotte, NC; two step-daughters-in-law, Mrs.
Patricia Coleman and Mrs. Vidette Coleman; four step-sons-in-law, Mr.
William Bellamy, Mr. Anthony Johnson, Mr. Harry Betts, Mr. Alvin Crews;
21 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren, other relatives and
friends.  He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 13 at noon at Clover
Apostolic Church with District Elder Bernard Wilkins officiating.  
Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery with Military Rites.  The
family will receive friends at Jeffress Funeral Home on Friday from
7:00-8:00 p.m.


Mr. Ernest Wayne Bowman
Mr. Ernest Wayne Bowman, 63, of Washington, DC, formerly of Halifax
County, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007.  He was born in Halifax County
on May 30, 1944, son of the late Mr. Willie Bowman, Sr. and Mrs.
Josephine C. Bowman and was married to Mrs. Constance "Connie" Bowman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Ms. Nicole
Bowman and Mrs. Tomeka Mills; one brother, Mr. Willie E. Bowman; three
sisters, Mrs. Marie Elder, Mrs. Vernell Bruce and Mrs. Alberta
Christian; two grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday, October 12 at 2:00 p.m. at St.
Matthew Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Alfred Chandler officiating.


Mrs. Kathleen (Teena) Wilkins Lacy
Mrs. Kathleen (Teena) Wilkins Lacy, 78, of South Boston died Tuesday,
October 9, 2007 at Duke Medical Center.  She was born in Person County,
NC on August 8, 1929, daughter of the late Winfrey A. Wilkins and Sue
Satterfield Wilkins and was married to Dr. Malcolm B. (Mac) Lacy.  She
was a member of First Presbyterian Church, South Boston.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Susan
Medlin of Roxboro, NC; one step-daughter, Lally Lacy Jennings and
husband Dr. Foster Jennings of Richmond; two step-grandchildren, Mac
and Lacy Jennings; one sister, Peggy Wilkins Linville of Roxboro, NC;
three brothers, Mike Wilkins of Cary, NC, Ray Wilkins and Winkie
Wilkins, both of Roxboro, NC.  She was preceded in death by one sister,
Jean Wilkins Kirby Holt.
Graveside services will be held Friday, October 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak
Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Russell Lee officiating.  The family will
receive friends tonight at 7:00 p.m. at 1808 Wilkerson Street, South
Boston.  Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society,
South Atlantic Division, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or
First Presbyterian Church, 800 N. Main Street, South Boston, VA 24592.
