Obituaries
Mr. Billy Cleao Anderson
Mr. Billy Cleao Anderson, 83, of 1152 Morton's Ferry Road, Nathalie
died Monday, September 17, 2007 at his home. He was born in Halifax
County on December 23, 1923, a son of the late Ratcliffe Anderson and
Lucy Gregory Anderson and was married to Virginia Motley Anderson. He
was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist church, a 50 year and lifetime
Mason of Crystal Hill Kerns Lodge #143 and was a charter member of
Triangle Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Navy veteran of World War
II and a member of American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Regina LaPorte
of Nathalie; one son, Carroll Anderson and wife Marie of Nathalie; two
grandchildren, Ryann Kraft and Seth LaPorte; two sisters, Beatrice
Tweedie and Louise Nicholas, both of Richmond, other relatives and
friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Odis and
John Anderson and two sisters, Adrienne Anderson and Juliette Nunnally.
Funeral services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. at Hunting Creek
Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Sisk and Rev. W.D. "Dibb" Mills
officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may
be directed to Halifax Regional Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Avenue, South
Boston, VA 24592 or Triangle Volunteer Fire Department, 3060 Morton's
Ferry Road, Nathalie, VA 24577.
Mrs. Mary Regan Zimmerman
Mrs. Mary Regan Zimmerman of 2121 Ephesus Church Road, Semora, NC died
Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Brian Center, Yanceyville, NC. Born in
Person County, NC on August 11, 1923, she was 84 at the time of her
death. A homemaker, she was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church.
Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by her husband, James Henry Zimmerman of the
home, a son Gary W. Zimmerman and wife, Lee of Hawaii, a daughter,
Sandra Long and husband, Melvin of Alton, two grandchildren, Jackie
Stone of Myrtle Beach, SC and Tracy Long of Alton and a great
grandchild Miranda Long of Myrtle Beach, SC. Also surviving are a
brother Isiah Regan of Prattville, AL and a sister, Jackie Stone of
Delaware. She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin O’Briant and
Sally Clayton O’Briant.A graveside service for Mrs. Zimmerman will be
conducted on Friday, September 21, at 2 p.m. at Ephesus Baptist Church
cemetery with the Rev. James Albert and Rev. L. L. Watlington officiating.
