Albert Crystal Webster

Mr. Albert Crystal Webster, Sr., 84, of 1131 Flint Rock Road, South
Boston died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at his home.  He was born in Arkansas
City, Arkansas on July 10, 1923, a son of the late Mr. Clinton Webster
and the late Mrs. Irma Waller Webster.  He was married to Mrs. Helen
Watkins Webster and was a World War II Army Veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mr. Albert
Webster, Jr. of South Boston and Mr. Eric Webster of Raleigh, NC; two
grandchildren, Iric Webster and Ashleigh Crawley; one daughter-in-law,
Mrs. Wanda Webster; one brother-in-law, many devoted friends, including
Mr. Wayne (BJ) Younger, Mr. Robert Younger, Rev. and Mrs. Nelson
Stamps, Mrs. Lucy (Ada) Bruce, other relatives and friends.  He was
preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Ivory Davis and Mrs. Beatrice
Davis and one brother, Mr. Charley Webster.
Funeral services will be held today at noon at Crawford House Chapel,
Halifax with Rev. Nelson Stamps officiating.  Military rites will
follow the service.

 

 James (Jimmy) Lacy Betterton
GRETNA - James (Jimmy) Lacy Betterton, 58, of Gretna died Tuesday, May
20, 2008 the result of an automobile accident.  He was born July 15,
1949 in Lynchburg, a son of James B. Betterton and wife Kathy of
Nathalie and Eva Jones Betterton of Gretna.  Jimmy was a member of
Mulberry Baptist Church and a farmer.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Joey Betterton and
wife Lesia of Gretna; two brothers, Tommy Betterton and Laverne of
Gretna and Timmy Betterton and Kathy of Gretna; one step-sister,
Victoria Gillimand; two grandchildren, Caleb Betterton and Rachel
Betterton; and special friend Martha.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Mulberry
Baptist Church with Rev. Elton McDowell officiating.  Burial will
follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends tonight
from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna.

 

 Josephine Hodges Fisher
Mrs. Josephine Hodges Fisher, 80, of 1083 Chisolm Trail, Nathalie died
Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at The Woodview.  She was born November 5, 1927,
a daughter of the late Lewis Brantley Hodges and Malinda Murphy Hodges.
  She was a member of Liberty United Church of Christ, the Ladies
Auxiliary of Liberty Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Order of
the Eastern Star Chapter 132.
She is survived by five daughters, Dolly F. Fallen of South Boston,
Sarah F. Monroe and husband Randal of Gladys, Rebecca F. Gentry and
husband Gregory of Henderson, NC, Gracie F. Condie and husband Claudio
of High Springs, FL and Agnes F. Morris of Nathalie; one son, Horace
(Buck) Fisher, Jr. and wife Jane of Nathalie; two sisters, Elaine
Younger and Margie Lamar; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Jackson and Archie
Wood and two brothers, Alvin Hodges, Sr. and Lewis Hodges.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty
United Church of Christ with Rev. Dwight Moore and Rev. David Dickerson
officiating.  Burial will follow in Catawba Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Powell
Funeral Home.
