Obituaries
Mr. Elson T. "Buck" Matthews
Mr. Elson T. "Buck" Matthews, 70, of 2100 Sandy Beach Road, South
Boston died Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at South Boston Manor. He was born
in Halifax County on February 21, 1937 and was married to Nancy Culley
Morgan Matthews. Buck was of the Baptist faith, a retired employee of
Industrial Fan Company and a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Debra M.
Matthews and husband Glenn of Halifax, Nona M. Hite and husband Riley
of South Boston and Jo M. Cash of Halifax; one son, Jason Morgan and
wife Tina of Red Oak; two sisters, Willie Mae Jones of South Boston and
Barbara M. Seamster of Alton; one brother, Glenn S. Matthews of
Halifax; grandchildren, Scott and Victor Matthews, Chris and Chip Hite,
Beverly Cash, Emily and Sadie Morgan, Austin and Aaron Welch;
great-grandchildren, Arica Matthews, Jessica Balducci, Brooke Matthews,
Lee Smith, III, Landon Hite; extended daughter, Brenda Banks and her
three children and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one
brother, Frank Wilson Matthews, one sister, Lucy Christine Jones, one
grandchild, Adam Morgan and one great-grandchild, Maci Smith.
Graveside services will be held today at 11:00 a.m. at Clover Cemetery
with Rev. Jerry Jordan conducting the service.
Mr. Larry Lee Lovelace
Mr. Larry Lee Lovelace, 44, of Brooklyn, NY died Sunday, July 29, 2007.
He was born in New York on May 30, 1963, a son of Mr. Howard Lovelace
and Mrs. Mary Wimbush Lovelace and was a member of Holy Trinity Baptist
Church, Brooklyn, NY.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Mr. Larry
Lovelace, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY and Mr. Lamar Lovelace of Queens, NY; one
daughter, Ms. Sabrina Lovelace of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, Mr. Ron
Lovelace of Danville and Mr. Shawn Lovelace of Charlotte, NC; one
sister-in-law, Mrs. Tonia Lovelace; seven great-aunts, three
great-uncles, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 4 at 2:00 p.m. at
Elkhorn Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Lewis C. Motley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lovelace Family Cemetery. The family will
receive friends at 3167 Leda Road, Nathalie.
