Dr. Sherman Dame Tomlinson, Sr.

Dr. Sherman Dame Tomlinson, Sr. of Tom's Trail, Nahunta, GA died July 20, 2007 at The Woodview in South Boston. He was born September 16, 1929 in Clinch County, GA and was 77 at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Sherman Drawdy Tomlinson and Vashti Lois King Tomlinson and was married to Eleanor Kuba Tomlinson. He was a US Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a retired pharmacist and lawyer. He was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the Nahunta Masonic Lodge, AF&AM.
Dr. Tomlinson is survived by four daughters Sarah T. "Sissie" Lenzen and husband Jon of Halifax, Barbara T. Kilbourn and husband John of Wartburg, TN, Eleanor T. Cooper and husband Al of Mabscott, WV and Charlotte T. Cline and husband Dave of South Boston, two sons, Sherman Dame Tomlinson, Jr. and wife Robin of Nahunta, GA and Richard Bailey Tomlinson and wife Kimberly of Covington, GA, a sister, Arlia Bailey and husband Richard of Pittsfield, MA, six grandchildren, Deborah and Paul Boylan of Wartburg, TN, Lauryn and Derek Lenzen of Halifax, Andrew Tomlinson of Covington, GA and Caleb Cline of South Boston. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha R. Tomlinson.
A funeral service for Dr. Tomlinson will be conducted on Wednesday, July 25 at 2 p.m. at the Chambless-Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta, GA. Burial will follow Thursday at the Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA. Visitation will be held at the Chambless-Frye Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. For memorials please consider the Shriners Hospitals.

Mrs. Betty Holland Beale

Mrs. Betty Holland Beale, formerly of Halifax, died July 20, 2007 at the Orchard Nursing Home in Warsaw. She was born December 6, 1913 in Halifax County and was 93 years old. She was the daughter of the late John Thomas Holland and Lessie Power Holland and was married to the late Bennet Beale.
Mrs. Beale is survived by two daughters, Betsy B. Bell and husband, Charles of Callao and Jane B. Plotke and husband, Harry of Castle Rock, CO and two grandchildren, Richard Bell and wife Eliza of Richmond and Laura Morrissette and husband Floyd of West Point, and one great granddaughter, Leila Bell of Richmond and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral serice will be conducted on Wednesday, July 25 at 2 p.m. with Richard Bennet Bell officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Louise Collins, 88, died Thursday, July 19, 2007. She was the wife of the late John L. Collins, Sr. and was a participant in the Williamsburg Woman's Club.
She is survived by her son, John L. Collins, Jr. of Arlington, nephews, Tom and Terry Hoy and a niece Elsie Hoy, all of Richmond and Hayne Wesson of Reston.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 23 at Arlington Funeral Home, 3901 N. Fairfax Drive, Arlington. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, at Little Falls Presbyterian Church, 6025 Little Falls Road, Arlington. Interment will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25 at Oak Ridge cemetery, South Boston. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Capital Hospice, Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center, 6565 Arlington Blvd., Suite 501, Fairfax, VA 22042.
