Mrs. Prosie Conner Armistead
Mrs. Prosie Conner Armistead, 77, of 1119 Ponderosa Road, South
Boston
died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was
born
in Halifax County on July 1, 1929, a daughter of the late Frank
Lucas
Conner and Eunice Edna McKinney Conner and was married to the late
Charlie W. Armistead. She was a member of Church of God.
She is survived by two sons, Charles W. "Sonny" Armistead and wife
Jackie of Halifax and Kenneth R. Armistead of Lewisville, NC; four
grandchildren, Jenny Armistead, Justin Armistead, Scott Armistead,
Christopher Armistead; and two sisters, Anne Lloyd and Maggie
Overby of
South Boston.
Funeral services will be held today at 11:00 a.m. at Powell
Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Vance Midgett officiating. Burial will
follow in
Halifax Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the Halifax
County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 875, South Boston, VA 24592.
Mrs. Marjorie Nichols Grave
Mrs. Marjorie Nichols Graves, 89, of 370 Mountain Road, Halifax
died
Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born
in
Halifax County on December 29, 1917, daughter of the late Paul
Carrington Nichols, Sr. and Pattye Guthrie Nichols and was married
to
the late CDR Rowlett Lee Graves. She was a member of Beth Car
Baptist
Church.
She is survived by 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by
three brothers and four sisters.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Clover
Cemetery
with Rev. Dr. Michael Parnell officiating. Memorials may be
directed
to the Beth Car Baptist Church, 25 Church Street, Halifax, VA
24558.
Ms. Alice Bee Sydnor
Ms. Alice Bee Sydnor, 75, of 1118 Cole Street, South Boston died
Sunday, May 13, 2007 at her home. She was born in Halifax County
on
March 22, 1932, daughter of the late Mr. Robert Sydnor and Mrs.
Ellen
Coleman Sydnor. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Ferry
Street.
She is survived by one daughter, Ms. Shirley Coleman of South
Boston;
one son, Mr. Willie R. Sydnor of Halifax; four sisters, Mrs. Eva
Canada, Mrs. Emma Hamlett, Mrs. Arminta Lowery and Mrs. Elvira
Faulkner, all of South Boston; one brother, Mr. Willie Sydnor of
Salem;
four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two God-daughters,
other
relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two sisters,
Mrs.
Laura Palmer and Ms. Phibbie Ann Sydnor.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19 at noon at First
Baptist
Church, Ferry Street with Elder Bernard Wilkins officiating.
Burial
will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
