OBITUARIES

Elsie "L" Shelton

Mrs. Elsie "L" Shelton of Wallace, NC, and formerly of South Boston,
died Monday, May 5, 2008.  She was married to the George Shelton.
She is survived by her son, Sonny Shelton and his wife Tanya of
Raleigh; two granddaughters, Heather Lehto and husband Wayne and Sunny
Biasi and husband Duane of Darien, CT; and five great-grandchildren,
Anna Stuart, Emmi, Sonny, Davis and Georgia; three sisters, Shirley
Epps, Elizabeth Johnson and Hazel Compton, all of South Boston.  She
was preceded in death by two brothers, George Osborne and Edward
Osborne and one sister, Klara Coulson.
Funeral services will be held today at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist
Church, Main Street, in Wallace, NC with visitation immediately
following at the church.  Graveside services will be held Friday, May 9
at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Boston. Memorials may be

 Nellie Crews Buntin
 
Mrs. Nellie Crews Buntin, 89, of  1413 Airport Road, Ringgold, died
Monday, May 5, 2008 at Danville Regional Medical Center. Born June 14,
1918 in Nathalie,  she was the daughter of the late
Frank Crews and the late Cora Lacks Crews.  She was employed with Dan
River, Inc. for 37 years, was a member of Glenwood Memorial Baptist
Church, a former member of WMU and the Young at Hearts.  She was
married to the late Willie Howard Buntin.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Buntin Blair of Ringgold; one son,
Billy Harold Buntin of North Charleston, SC; one sister, Odell Skelton
of Nathalie; two grandchildren, Kathy Blair Bradner and Ricky Harold
Buntin and two great-grandchildren, Kristopher Clinton Bradner and
Shayna Buntin.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Crews,
Jr.
Funeral services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral
Services Chapel, 3995 Franklin Tpke, Danville, with Rev. Avery Witcher
officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens,
Danville. Memorial donations may be made to the Danville Life Saving
Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541 or Glenwood Memorial

 Brenda Darnell Satterfield Beachy
Mrs. Brenda Darnell Satterfield Beachy of 6066 Newbill School Road,
Clover died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at her home. Born in South Boston on
October 7, 1949, she was 58 at the time of her death. She was a
homemaker.
Mrs. Beachy is survived by her husband, James A. Beachy of the home,
three sons, Richard Beachy, Jason Beachy and Paul Kipps, all of South
Boston, two step sons, Lynn Beachy of Gloucester and Jody Beachy of
Alpharetta, GA, a step daughter, Suzanne Waltrip of Gloucester and a
brother, Danny Satterfield of Clover, a granddaughter Cierra Kipps and
her mother Joyce Weldick and five step grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her parents, Paul Satterfield and Julia Hughes Satterfield
and a step son, James A. Beachy, Jr.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, May 10 at 1 p.m. at
Brooks Funeral Home Chapel. The family requests that in lieu of
flowers, memorials be made to the Halifax County Cancer Association, P.
