Raymond Edward Wilborn

Mr. Raymond Edward Wilborn of 3071Mountain Road, Halifax died March 28, 2008 at Halifax Regional Hospital. Born in Halifax County on March 28,1939, he was 69 at the time of his death. He was the son of the late
Robert Harris Wilborn and Gaynell Loyd Wilborn and was married to Nancy Bane Wilborn. Mr. Wilborn is survived by his wife of the home, a daughter, Donna Short and husband Mark of Nathalie, a son, Edward Dean Wilborn of Alton, two grandchildren, Jimmy Pulliam and Eric Short and wife Shawn, all of Nathalie, a great grandchildren Brooklyn Short, also of Nathalie, three sisters, Ruby Wilborn and Margaret Barksdale, both of
South Boston and Mildred W. Propst of Virgilina, two step daughters, Nancy Pappenhagen and husband, James of Holly Springs and Mary Crowder and husband Preston of Halifax, two step grandsons, James Pappenhagen
of Holly Spring, NC and Matthew Crowder of Halifax. A funeral service for Mr. Wilborn was held Sunday, March 30 at 2:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Campbell officiating. Mrs. Viola Stephens Stovall of 5069 East Hyco Road, South Boston died Saturday, March 29, 2008 in Sutherlin at the age of 79. Born in Halifax County on August 23, 1928 to the late Mr. Joseph Stephens and Mrs. Mary
Lucy Brandon Stephens, she was a member of the Greater Brandon Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Stovall is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ester S. Mosley of South Boston and Mrs. Cender S. Brandon of Sutherlin, two sons, Mr. William Stovall and Mr. Larry Stovall, both of South Boston, a sister, Ms. Elizabeth Stephens of South Boston, 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sons-in-law, Mr. Carter Mosley of South Boston and
Mr. Barry Brandon of Sutherlin, an aunt, three sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers. A funeral service for Mrs. Stovall will be held on Wednesday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at Greater Brandon Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev Ricky Surgeon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jeffress Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7 until 8 p.m. and at all other times at the home of Mr. Barry and Mrs. Cender Brandon, 1227 Brooklyn Road, Sutherlin.
