Mr. John Thomas "Sye" DeJarnette
Mr. John Thomas "Sye" DeJarnette, 68, of 1921
Alderson Avenue, South Boston died Monday, December 18, 2006 at his home.
He was born in Halifax County on April 6, 1938, a son of the late Mr.
Edward Moses DeJarnette and Mrs. Louise Woodson DeJarnette.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Holiness Church.
He is survived by one brother, Mr. Joe L. DeJarnette of
South Boston; one uncle, Mr. Berman Woodson; two aunts, Mrs. Hattie B. Woodson
and Mrs. Lola Woodson; one Goddaughter, Miss Zena A. Jeffress; other relatives
and friends. He was preceded in
death by two sisters, Mrs. Norma Jean Barksdale and Mrs. Louise Barksdale and
one brother, Mr. George D. DeJarnette.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 23 at 2:00
p.m. at Crawford House Chapel with Rev. Sandy Palmer officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Pearlie E. Logan
Mr. Pearlie E. Logan, Sr., 54, of Richmond, formerly of
Halifax, died December 16, 2006 at his home.
He was born April 9, 1952, a son of the late Mr. James Younger and Ms.
Irene Logan.
He is survived by a devoted friend, Ms. Cheryl Eldridge of
Richmond; three sons, Mr. Pearlie Logan, Jr., Mr. Brandon Logan and Mr. Brenann
Logan, all of Richmond; one daughter, Ms. Brianna Logan of Richmond; one
step-daughter, Ms. Barbara Jean; one granddaughter, Ms. Kashay; two sisters,
Mrs. Anna Petty of South Boston and Mrs. Martha Reed of Vernon Hill; one
brother, Mr. Roosevelt Logan of South Boston; one uncle, Mr. Lester Younger; one
aunt, Ms. Rebecca Logan; one brother-in-law, Mr. Lewis Reed; other relatives and
friends.
Funeral services will be held today at 11:00 a.m. at Mimms
Funeral Home, Richmond. Friday,
December 22, his remains will lie in state at County Line Baptist Church from
11:00-1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery.
Grace H. Starrette
CHESAPEAKE, Va. — The funeral for Grace Hudgins Starrette, 88, of
Chesapeake, Va., who died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, was conducted on Friday, Dec.
15, in Chesapeake, by the Rev. James Harrington and the Rev. Amos Eby.
Mrs. Starrette was a native of Person County, the daughter of the late Arthur
and Jane Hudgins. Her late husband was William Starrette.
Surviving are two sons, Ray Starrette of Chesapeake and Richard Starrette of
Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Ruth Hudgins Ashley of Reidsville and Janie Hudgins
Bayes of Danville, Va.; two brothers, Ellis Hudgins of Roxboro and Norman
Hudgins of Red Oak, Va.
Pallbearers were nephews, Mike Ashley, Barry Bayes, Ellis Hudgins Jr., Vernon
Hudgins, Elton Hudgins, Jimmy Hudgins and Robert Rimmer.
