Mrs. Verlie Mae Walker Carter

Mrs. Verlie Mae Walker Carter, 94, died Friday, December 15, 2006, in Halifax Regional Hospital. Mrs. Carter worked at Gill's Grill for many years.
A graveside service will be held a 2 p.m. Monday in the Union Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Bowen and Judy Treadway; two sons, Wayne Carter and Vernon Walker; and three sisters, Rachel Owen, Naomi Beard and Lurleen Wilson. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 pm. Sunday at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.

Mrs. Edna Blanks Elliott,

Mrs. Edna Blanks Elliott, 86, died Thursday, December 14, 2006, in Halifax Regional Hospital. Mrs. Elliott was a member of First Baptist Church. She owned and operated Town and Country Beauty Salon for many years. 
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gravel Hill Cemetery. Surviving are a son, Eddie Elliott; and a sister, Lela B. Walker.  The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville and at other times at the home of Joyce Pyle, 1017 Bannister Road in Halifax.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

Nicholas Peter Anderson

Nicholas Peter Anderson of 1081 Cluster Ridge Trail, South Boston died December 11, 2006, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held December 17, at 2 p.m. in Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Showers officiating.
Survivors of Infant Anderson include his mother and father, Karen P. and Peter Anderson; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Mavis Phillips; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Leanore Anderson; a sister, Samantha Leeann Anderson; and two brothers, James Dillon Anderson and Ryan Wallace Anderson, all of South Boston. One sister, Sidney DeLaine Anderson, preceded him in death.

Debra S. Hall

Debra S. Hall, 59, of Chester, died December 12, 2006.  She was born in Roanoke Rapids, N.C.  Mrs. Hall retired from the Department of Defense where she worked as a computer specialist for 30 years. 
Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, Charles R. Hall; mother, Helen Taylor of Dinwiddie; daughters, Debray Sparkman and husband, Tommy, of Chester, Sherry Viar and husband, Matt, of Midlothian; grandchildren, Ashley Grey Sparkman, Daulton Lee Sparkman and Graysen Noelle Viar; brothers, Ernest Sadler Jr. of Petersburg and Randy Taylor of Dinwiddie; sisters, Helen Francis of Dinwiddie and Dianne Lowery of South Boston. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Sadler Sr.
A funeral service will be held today, December 15, 2 p.m. at Chester Baptist Church, Chester.  Interment will be held in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
