Obituaries

Mr. Daniel Epps Lacy

Mr. Daniel Epps Lacy, Sr. of 1029 Love Shop Road, Halifax died Sunday,
April 15, 2007 at his home. Born in Halifax County on August 26, 1916,
he was 90 years old at the time of his death. He was the son of the
late William J. Lacy and Sally Epps Lacy and was married to Thelma
Palmer Lacy. He was a tobacco farmer and was a member of the Dan River
Baptist Church.Mr. Lacy is survived by his wife of the home, a daughter, Jeannette L. Anderson and husband, James of Miami, FL, two sons, Daniel Epps Lacy, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Halifax and James P. Lacy and wife, Lynn, also of Halifax. Also surviving are a sister, Sara L. Butler of Burlington,
NC and two grandchildren, Travis James Anderson of Gainesville, FL and
Chris Pridgen of Halifax.He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Lacy and Mary Sue Elliott and by three brothers, William Lacy, Bailey Lacy and Charles Lacy.A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 18 at 11 a.m. at the Dan River Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Doug Gibson
officiating. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home
Tuesday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and at other times at his home.

Mr. Noel Lindy Throckmorton

 

Mr. Noel Lindy Throckmorton of 76 Maple Avenue, Halifax died Sunday,
April 15, 2007 at Halifax Regional Hospital. Born January 16, 1931, he
was 76 at the time of his death. Arrangements for Mr. Throckmorton were
incomplete at presstime and will be announced by Powell Funeral Home at
a later date.

 

Mr. Leroy Crawley,

 

Mr. Leroy Crawley, 62, of Halifax died Monday, April 9, 2007 at
MCV-VCU Medical Center, Richmond. He was born in Charlotte County on
June 9, 1944, a son of Joseph and Frances Redd Crawley, and was
educated in Charlotte County Schools and was a former employee of J.R.
Tharpe Trucking Company.
He is survived by his wife, Corina Crawley of Saxe; two sons, Corey
Crawley of Clover and Jonathan Daniel of Phenix; six grandchildren; one
sister, Bernice Foster of Clover; five brothers, Clarence Redd of
Kingston, NY, Edward Crawley and John Henry Crawley, both of Clover,
Joseph Junior Crawley of South Boston and Johnnie Watson of Chase City;
two aunts, Alma Staten and Josephine Paige; one uncle, Mack Skipper;
other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Rocky Branch Baptist Church with
Rev. Dr. James E. Scott officiating. Burial followed in the church
cemetery.
