Obituaries Mrs. Mattie Reed Traynham
Mrs. Mattie Reed Traynham, 88, of 2032 Traynham Grove Road, Alton
died
Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was
born in
Halifax County on February 16, 1919, a daughter of the late Mrs.
Hallie
Reed. She was married to Mr. Richard Owen Traynham and was a
member of
Harmony A.M.E. Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs.
Essie
Thomas of Alton; two sons, Mr. Aaron Traynham of Randallstown, MD
and
Mr. Ivory Traynham of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Mrs. Mary Crawley
of
Baltimore, MD; 12 grandchildren, including the devoted Ms. Linda
Pointer; 12 great-grandchildren, three daughters-in-law, a devoted
niece, Mrs. Shirley Smith; other relatives and friends. She was
preceded in death by one son, Mr. David Traynham.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 11 at St. Michaels A.M.E.
Church with Rev. Michael Dunn officiating. Burial followed in Oak
Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Charles Edward Rowland
Mr. Charles Edward Rowland, 62, of 263 Poplar Lane, Halifax died
Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born
in
Philadelphia, PA on June 17, 1944, a son of Barbara Gibbon Rowland
and
the late William Edward Rowland. He was married to Mary Rowland
and
was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son,
David
Rowland and wife Alicia of Yokosuko, Japan; one sister, Bonnie
Crowder
of Halifax; three brothers, James E. Rowland and wife Jo of Myrtle
Beach, SC, William W. Rowland of Danville and Thomas V. Rowland of
Scottsburg; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's
Episcopal Church with Rev. David Booher officiating. Memorials may
be
directed to St. John's Episcopal Church Preservation Fund, 484
Mountain
Road, Halifax, VA 24558.
Mrs. Elizabeth Lewis Yeaman Perkins
Mrs. Elizabeth Lewis Yeaman Perkins, 85, of 3190 Volens Road,
Nathalie
died Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was
born in Halifax County on January 8, 1922, a daughter of the late
William Moses Yeaman and Mattie Wilkerson Yeaman and was married
to the
late Maynard Barkley Perkins. She was a member of Liberty United
Church of Christ.
She is survived by one sister, Winnie Young of Newport News; two
nieces, Rebecca Faulkner and Delores Nunn; three nephews, Pete
Lovelace
of South Boston, Bill Young and James Perkins.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Liberty United Church of
Christ
with Rev. Dwight Moore and Rev. John Wilder officiating. Burial
followed in Catawba Baptist Church Cemetery.
