Obituaries

Krystina Marie Hooker

Krystina Marie Hooker, 17, of 502 Cardinal Court, South Boston died Sunday, February 25, 2007.  Born in Watertown, NY on November 17, 1989, she was a member of South Boston Church of God and a student at Halifax County High School where she was a member of the Varsity Soccer team, Varsity Cheerleader and Competition Squad, Peer Mediator, member Halifax County High School Blue Comet Marching Band and a student at the Regional Governors School.  She was also a member of the National Junior Honor Society, the 4-H Honor Club and a dance student at "We've Got Rhythm." Krystina is survived by her mother, Patricia Hooker-Moss and husband Mark of South Boston and her father, Matthew Jay Hooker and wife Bobbi of Everett, WA; sisters, Krystal Hooker and Destiny Moss, both of South Boston, Aubrey Carpenter of Montana, Kaylin Hooker of Everett, WA; brothers, Karrington Hooker of South Boston and Korban Hooker of Everett, WA; grandparents, Carolyn and Wallace Wazeka of South Boston, Patricia Anderson of Jackson, NJ; great-grandparents, Teddy Wazeka of South Boston, Joe and Alice Kilroy of New Jersey; and her beloved friend, Troy Stephens.  She was preceded in death by a step-sister, Corlette Moss and grandparents, Lillian Wazeka and Lillian and Bouldin Watts. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at South Boston Church of God with Rev. Dr. Bruce Hagy officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Alberta Medley Edmondson

Mrs. Alberta Medley Edmondson, 79, of 4010 Mountain Road, Halifax died Monday, February 26, 2007 at her home. She was born in Halifax County on May 23, 1927, a daughter of the late Mr. Albert Medley, Sr. and Mrs. Ludelia Wood Medley. She was married to the late Mr. Elmer Edmondson and was a member of Williams Temple C.M.E. Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alberta E. Powell of Temple Hills, MD and Ms. Janie Edmondson of Fort Washington, MD; two sons, Mr. Elmer Edmondson, Jr. of South Boston and Mr. James Edmondson of Halifax; one sister, Mrs. Irene Hankins of South Boston; two brothers, Mr. Albert Medley, Jr. of Washington, DC and Mr. Willie Medley of South Boston; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Shirley Edmondson and Mrs. Wilma Edmondson; one brother-in-law, Mr. Lorenzo Cardwell; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Jane Barnett, Mrs. Virgie Chaney, Mrs. Ella Mae Medley and Mrs. Betty Medley; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Stephens and one son, Mr. Lawrence "Tom" Edmondson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Temple C.M.E. Church with Rev. George Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jeffress Funeral Home on Friday, March 2 from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
