Newly elected Sheriff Stanley Noblin speaks with a well-wisher on his cell phone and his wife and oldest daughter inspect the vote totals. The family was at the courthouse Tuesday night as the final tallies confirmed Noblin as the winner over incumbent Jeff Oakes. Noblin, a former State Trooper, took 60 percent of the vote. Change was the theme of the evening as two School Board incumbents were also unseated: Joe Bailey lost to challenger Joe Gasperini and Sandra Rister lost to Stuart Comer. Two School Board newcomers were unopposed: Walter Potts and Devin Snead. A fifth new face on the School Board: Roger Long, who won over Robert Wazeka Jr. in a write-in contest to fill the job of a retiring incumbent. (photo by Mary Eva Cassada) more election results
