HAPPY ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY - Members
and special guests of the Woodmen of the World, Chapter
106 celebrated the official 100th birthday of the local
chapter on Saturday at the Lodge Hall on Seymour Drive.
The event drew national and state officers, as well as
local officials. Shown here are Robert Clowdis, field
representative. R. B. Moore, national director, Susan
Jensen, past state president of WOW, Nick Kesseler, area
manager, Fifth District Congressman Virgil Goode, and
South Boston Mayor Carroll Thackston. In the back row
are Terry
Carroll, state manager, David Francis,
Judicial Manager, Halifax Mayor Leon Plaster and
Delegate Clarke Hogan. The local lodge has been
instrumental in providing new flags for schools, the
museum, and the library. It also has supported its youth
summer camps where participants learn about the history
of the American flag, the proper procedure for handling
it and the ceremony of raising and lowering the
flag. To the right Hannah Hite enjoys
some of the refreshments served at the event. (SOMcL
