Once again the North Halifax Volunteer Fire Department is planning its
annual Marathon fundraising event on Saturday, September 8 beginning at
11 a.m. to secure funds for the departmentís operations over the coming
year.
The dayís activities will include face painting, hair painting, a
kiddie train and various other activities.
The day will be filled with music and exhibits. The Liberty Band and
local entertainers will take center stage before the firemenís
competition begins at 2 and lasts until 4 p.m. Then thereís a canine
exhibition and from 4:30 until 5 p.m. combined choirs from Second
Buffalo Baptist Church will entertain. Cecil Fisher Hazelwood will sing
from 5 until 5:30, followed by local dancers. The Reed Creek Band will
then play from 6 to 8 p.m.
The handmade ìGrannyís Fan quilt will be raffled off in the evening and
thereíll be good food for sale throughout the day óbarbeque, fried
chicken, hot dogs, homemade pies and homemade Brunswick stew. Make your
plans to be there for lots of fun and fellowship, as well as support
for your local fire department.
