A 38 year old Halifax man has been arrested and charged with breaking
and entering and with malicious wounding. Mark Edward Medley was
charged after Halifax Police Officer F. Holland was called to an
altercation at a residence on 365 North Main Street, Halifax around
2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, August 26. There he found that 19 year old
Lawrence Richardson had been assaulted.
Lt. Mike Womack of the Halifax Police Department said Medley was being
held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail, awaiting a preliminary hearing.
Earlier on August 9, Nathaniel Chandler of 2002 Mountain Road, Halifax
reported that he had accidentally left his wallet at the Wilco store in
Downtown Halifax the previous day. After returning to the store several
times to look for it, he reported his loss to Halifax Police. The
wallet was recovered, but several credit cards were missing from it.
Womack said a suspect has been identified and charges will soon be
forthcoming in the case.
