Three Grubby Road neighborhood homes suffered mailbox vandalism on
Saturday night, August 25. According to Captain Larry Fears of the
Halifax County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Sam Gilliam responded to a
complaint around 9 p.m. on State Route 678, Grubby Road, where someone
using some kind of explosive device blew up the mailbox at the Tom
Coates residence. The blast completely destroyed the maibox and just a
few minutes later the mailbox at the Hart home, located at the
intersection of Grubby Road and Old Grubby Road, was also destroyed in
similar fashion.
On the same night a mailbox at the Golightly residence on Deer View
Trail, just off Grubby Road, was also damaged in the same manner. All
the residences are located in the Union Church community.
Anyone having any information about the vandalism incidents is asked to
contact the Halifax County Sheriff's Department at (434)476-3334 or
476-3339 or Crimestoppers at 476-TIPS.
