Thanksgiving services slated

The annual joint Thanksgiving Service will be held this year on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 515 Yancey Street, South Boston. The Rev. Ed Rigg of Main Street Methodist Church will deliver the message with the Rev. Gary Butterworth of Trinity assisting.

Also participating in the service will be the Rev. Dave Anderson of First Baptist, Rev. John Eure of Ash Avenue Baptist and the Rev. Russell Lee of First Presbyterian of South Boston.

The public is invited to participate in the service.

Across the county several other churches are planning special Thanksgiving services: at New Life Baptist Pastor Paul W. Bruce will host a service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 25; at Zion Grove Baptist a 7 p.m. service with Minister Shirley Tyree on Wednesday, Nov. 24; a pre-Thanskgiving service at Crystal Hill Baptist Church on Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. led by Pastor Dr. Louis S. Leigh; a Thanksgiving service “We Gather Together” at 11 a.m. at New Shiloh Baptist Church with Pastor Sylvester Crawley and church family; at New Vernon Baptist Church, News Ferry at Wednesday, Nov. 24 service at 7p.m. and a special Thanksgiving service with Pastor Marcellous D. Mack at New Bethel Baptist Church.
