The South Boston Farmers Market held its grand opening on Saturday morning as a big crowd of customers for home-sourced foods enjoyed musical entertainment by the Blue Grass Five.

“We had one of the best grand opening celebrations ever. The weather was great and the crowd was big,” said Tamyra Vest, Executive Director of Destination Downtown South Boston. “Vendors and visitors alike enjoyed a great community day!”

Ben Capozzi, Market Manager, added, “We were delighted to have so many wonderful market visitors and vendors. We heard from so many vendors who

sold out of goods and visitors who loaded up on wonderful, fresh, local food. Folks should stay tuned for July because we’ve got more great events planned for the market!”
