Jeffress called up by Brewers

Jeremy Jeffress made monumental local sports history Wednesday. The former Comet has been called up by the Milwaukee Brewers as part of the club’s September roster expansion. Jeffress reported to Cincinnati, where the Brewers were concluding a brief series with the Reds last night. The Brewers are headed to Philadelphia this weekend, before returning home on Labor Day.

X-country finishes seventh in jamboree

The Halifax County high school cross country team opened its season with a scrimmage at Ballou Park in Danville Wednesday. The Danville Running Club Jamboree race saw eight schools competing on both the varsity and jayvee level.
