Lady Comets face busy week, three WVD games in three days

The Halifax County High School girls’ basketball team, now 14-3 overall and in second place in the district at 3-1, has a very demanding week ahead.

The Comet girls host GW-Danville tonight. Then, the Comets travel to Rocky Mount Tuesday for another key district game.

Finally, the Comets play their third straight game on Wednesday night at home against William Fleming.

Comet athletics director Allen Lawter said yesterday the PH game is yet to be rescheduled.

The season finale against E.C. Glass, a non-district game, will not be played, due to conflicts impacting both programs.

SBS cranks up 2010 season Saturday

South Boston Speedway will crank up the 2010 season Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the running of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Twin 75's race program.

HCPS Motorsports Academy fields two cars at SBS

Saturday, the race is on. On Saturday, the Halifax County High School motorsports teams will have their varsity and jayvee cars running in the race at South Boston Speedway.

Pitching an issue

Halifax County High School won its lone varsity baseball scrimmage, 6-4, over visiting Heritage Tuesday night, and head coach Kelvin Davis came away generally positive about the Comets’ efforts.
