HCMS tournament opening round Tuesday

The Halifax County Middle School tournament basketball action has been rescheduled for Tuesday.

The Lion girls will play Lunenburg here at 5 p.m., while the Lion boys meet Amelia at 6:30 p.m.

The Middle School tournament semifinals are set for Friday, with the championships now set for Saturday.

SBS cranks up 2010 season Saturday

South Boston Speedway will crank up the 2010 season Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the running of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Twin 75's race program.

HCPS Motorsports Academy fields two cars at SBS

Saturday, the race is on. On Saturday, the Halifax County High School motorsports teams will have their varsity and jayvee cars running in the race at South Boston Speedway.

Halifax County High School won its lone varsity baseball scrimmage, 6-4, over visiting Heritage Tuesday night, and head coach Kelvin Davis came away generally positive about the Comets’ efforts.
