Dear Viewpoint,

Asking Are We Really Thankful? Due to the fact things are happening in this world today all around us that are heartbreaking, and in some cases unheard of, are we really thankful it is not us? Do we go about our daily activities not giving the current events a second thought sometimes? Even though we have had more snow the last two months than we have had in the last two years, we are still blessed. The residents of Riverdale have had to pack up and move out already twice this year because of rising waters, we are still blessed. ABB and other places of employment have had to add numbers to the unemployment statistics here in the county, and we are still blessed. As I continue to see the troubling news reports coming from the small country of Haiti, I forever keep these suffering people on my mind and in my heart. To see all the destruction that has happen in this country is just unbearable. I would like to share this prayer with your reader. I hope this will touch them in the way it has been embedded in my soul .

LORD, I just want to say THANK YOU, because this morning I woke up and knew where my children were. Because this morning my home was still standing, Because this morning I am not crying because my husband, my child, my brother or sister needs to be pulled out from underneath a pile of concrete. Because this morning I was able to drink a glass of clean water. Because this morning I was able to turn on a light and take a shower. Because this morning I was not planning a funeral.

But most of all I thank you this morning because I still have life and a voice to cry out for the people of Haiti. Lord I cry out to you, the one that makes the impossible, possible, the one that turns darkness into light. I cry out that you give them peace that surpasses all understanding, that you may provide doctors, nurses, food, water, and all that they need in a blink of an eye. For all those that have lost family members, give them peace, give them hope, give them courage to continue to go on. Protect the children and shield them with your power. We should all pray this in the name of Jesus!! Amen.

Now ask yourself and others around you Are You Really Thankful?
