Gladys Norman Cavanaugh

Mrs. Gladys Norman Cavanaugh of 201 Nottingham Drive, South Boston, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Berry Hill Nursing Home. She was born in Halifax County, Virginia on September 25, 1911 and was 98 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Warner W. Norman Sr. and Mary Lena Rye Norman and was married to the late James William Cavanaugh. Mrs. Cavanaugh was a member of the South Boston First Baptist Church since 1921.

Mrs. Cavanaugh is survived by: a daughter, Brenda C. Siffert of South Boston, a son, James “Jimmy” W. Cavanaugh Jr. and wife Susan of Walterboro, S.C., four grandchildren: Jeff Siffert and wife Pam of Chesterfield, Donna Craven and husband Johnny of Walterboro, S.C., James W. “Bill” Cavanaugh III of Walterboro, S.C. and Jason W. Cavanaugh of Walterboro, S.C.; six great-grandchildren: Aeriel Siffert of South Boston, Courtney Siffert and Tiffany Siffert, both of Chesterfield, Sarah Craven and Shelby Craven and Miles Cavanaugh, all of Walterboro, S.C.; two sisters: Virginia Patterson amd Elizabeth Thaxton, both of South Boston and one brother: Walter Norman of Bracey.

She was preceded in death by: a grandson, Joe Siffert, three brothers and three sisters.

A funeral service for Mrs. Cavanaugh will be held at the First Baptist Church, South Boston on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2:00 P. M. with the Rev. Dave Anderson and the Rev. Susan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
