Edward Lee Jones

Mr. Edward Lee Jones of Coleman Drive, Alton, died March 4, 2010 at his home at the age of 87. Born in Halifax County on November 12, 1922 to the late Eddie Lee Jones and Millie Jones, he was married to the late Mrs. Nannie Ruth Hamlett Jones. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Alton.

Mr. Jones is survived by a daughter, Mary Lipscomb of South Boston and a host of grandchildren, two sons-in-law, Odell Lipscomb Jr. and Robert Clark, three daughters-in-law, Mollie Jones, Delores Hamlett and Lelia Jones, three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Rea Jones, Bertha Hamlett and Olivia Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Margaret Jones and Annie Ruth Clark, five sons, Jack Jones, Mack Hamlett, William Jones, Edward Jones Jr. and Thomas Jones, two sisters, Willie Mae Jones and Nannie Bell Jones and three brothers, Albert, Alexander and Levi Jones.

A funeral service for Mr. Jones will be conducted on Monday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Harvey Bigelow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home, 1182 Coleman Drive, Alton.
