Guilty plea lodged in cocaine case

A 28 year old Halifax man pleaded guilty yesterday in Halifax County Circuit Court to four counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and three counts of conspiring to distribute cocaine.

Calvin Lamont Baker was sentenced to 55 years in jail with all but five years suspended. Baker must be of good behavior for 55 years, pay restitution to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and his driver’s license will be suspended for six months following completion of his active jail time. Baker was remanded into custody of the Department of Corrections to begin service of his sentence.
