Winners of the regional Poetry Out Loud competition held Thursday at The Prizery are, from left, winner Mikeala Skelton, second place Amber Walton and third place Hattie Eshleman. Mikeala and Amber are from Halifax County High School and will represent the region at the state championship in Richmond next month. Hattie is from New Covenant Schools in Lynchburg. The Halifax team is coached by Mary Eanes and Becky Donner. Twelve winners at the high school level competed in the regional match.
