Destination Downtown South Boston’s Streetscape Art initiative continues to spread paint. Shelby Talbott, owner of Sacs SoBo Eclectique, hopes to cover the glass windows of vacant shopfronts with colorful designs and scenes — provided their owners consent. Acrylic paint washes off easily, she says. Destination Downtown President Wayne Fuller, on ladder, applies a coat of primer to a plywood barrier around a building on lower Main that is soon to undergo rehabilitation. Rosana Humphreys, left, and Betty Caldwell, are among the artists who will paint the panels. Once the work is finished and the “wall” comes down, the segments can be saved and used elsewhere. Downtown also boasts fire hydrants painted to resemble town founders.
