Sunday, call to worship was the first verse of “Near The Cross” by the choir at HBC. Dean Elliott read the announcements and welcomed everyone. The Oliver family was presented Bibles and certificates in recognition of their recent baptisms. Hymn was “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.” Prayer time ended with a prayer from the Deacon of the Week, Jimmy Wilson. Choir special was “Just Over in the Glory Land.” Hymn was “Victory in Jesus.” Everyone fellowshipped with one another while Jackie Arrington, pianist, played a couple of hymns. Reverend Bill LaWall brought the sermon entitled “The Four Thieves of Joy.” Scripture came from Phillipians 4:1-13, John 15:11, Acts 16, Matthew 6:24, John 16:33 and Acts 16:25. Hymn was “Have Thine Own Way Lord.” Visitors at HBC Sunday included Rev. Bill and Nancy LaWall, Delores Hamlett and Rocki Hamlett.Recently, Sam Parham, Ernestine Griffin and Norma Elliott visited Mrs. Inez Young. Norma visited Pat Newton Friday. Saturday evening; Ernestine, Sam and Norma went to see/hear the singing auctioneer at Halifax Methodist Church. Those visiting Ruth Overby throughout the week included Leslie Overby, Connie Cranfill and Debbie Overby. Friday, Mitzie Waller and Ruth went to South Boston. While there, they enjoyed lunch out together. Melvin and Hollis Bowen visited Ms. Alice Bowen last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Last Saturday, Melvin and Hollis visited Alan Hudson and Muriel Williams. Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Bowen went on a tour of the new cottage where one of their friends will be residing. They also visited the residents at Arbor Cottage. Melvin and Hollis visited the residents of Sommerset cottage last Tuesday. Jade Overby spent the night with Lynn and Annie Sue Overby Friday. Shoshannah Foster visited Lynn and Annie Sue Saturday. Jade, Carissa Overby and Haley Overby also visted the group. Saturday, Druscilla Newton attended Mary Sue Slaughter’s birthday celebration in Bullock, NC. Saturday afternoon, Abraham Tillotson visited Dennis Williamson. Sunday afternoon, Mr. Tillotson visited Elmo and Virginia Morris in Red Bank. Saturday, Delores Hamlett and Rocki Hamlett attended Jennifer Bryant’s birthday celebration. Others there included some of Jennifer’s friends, family and neighbors and Dakota Williams. Sunday; Ruth Overby, Mrs. Ralston, Delores and Rocki dined out for lunch in Roxboro. The four ladies also did some shopping while there. Sunday, Judy Henley came to the neighborhood and visited her mother, Esther Mae Murray. Mrs. Henley also spent the night with her mom.
