Sunday, call to worship was the first verse of “Mansion Over the Hill Top” by the choir at HBC. Andy Loftis read the announcements and welcomed everyone. Hymn was “Standing on the Promises”. Prayer time ended with a prayer from the Deacon of the Week, Jerry Arrington. Choir special was “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow”. Hymn was “At Calvary”. Everyone fellowshipped with one another while Jackie Arrington, pianist/organist, played a couple of hymns. Tammy Lloyd sang a solo entitled “Who Am I?”. Reverend Gerald Griffin brought the sermon entitled “The Declination of Church Membership/How to Keep the Churches Together”. Scripture came from Matthew 5:1-20 and Matthew 4:17-25. Hymn was “Jesus Is Calling”. Visitors at HBC Sunday included Rev. Gerald and Carol Griffin and a couple of others.Garland Murray of Richmond was an overnight guest of Ronnie and Deborah Pulliam last Sunday. Last Wednesday, the T.E.A.M. KIDS program started again at HBC. A good number of children of all ages attended the kick-off. Recently and throughout the week, Mrs. Ralston, as well as Linda Henderson, Virginia Miller and a couple of others, visited Mr. and Mrs. Decatur Overbey. Sunday; Robert Overby, Roger Overbey and Holly Crenshaw visited Decatur and Betty. Last Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. George Daniel visited the Curtis Bowen family at the Bowen home. Friday, they went to Brooks Funeral Home to be with the Bowen family. Last Wednesday, Abraham Tillotson had lunch with Archie and Barbara Salmons from Cascade, VA and Thomas Bailey at Shoney’s in South Boston in celebration of Thomas’ birthday. Friday, Deborah Puckett visited Abraham. Later, he attended the visitation of the Curtis Bowen family at Brooks Funeral Home. Saturday, he attended Mr. Bowen’s funeral at HBC. Following the funeral, Abraham helped with the preperation of the various game meats that were served at the Bob Watts Memorial Game Supper at HBC which he attended. Monday, Mr. Tillotson went to visit Cecil Talley and to South Boston. He also visited Vince and Melanie Medley, Farris Hudson, Herbie Wilkins, Joe Stewart and Paul Rowland. Brian and Aleta Chandler, Natalie Chandler and Austin Chandler spent the weekend with Beulah Whitlow. Saturday, they all went to Waynesboro for Oscar Chandler’s second birthday. Saturday; Mr. and Mrs. Chandler, Natalie, Austin and Beulah met up with Ray and Bonnie Bowen in South Boston for supper. Saturday, the Bob Watts Memorial Game Supper at HBC was well attended. People from various surrounding communities; including Nelson, Buffalo Junction, Aarons Creek and several others, were there. Sunday, Delores Hamlett and Rocki Hamlett spent most of the afternoon with Vince and Melanie Medley, Ruth Overby, Leslie and Debbie Overby, Connie Cranfill and some other Overby family members. Saturday, Norma Elliott and Sam Parham attended the Bob Watts Memorial Game Supper at HBC. Sunday, Mary Dean attended church at New Harvest Assembly Assembly of God. She also visited Pete and Virginia Lowery this day. That evening, Mary attended a birthday celebration/supper for Christie Carter at Homestead Restaurant in Roxboro. Sonny and Betty Lowery, Steve Carter, Pete and Virginia, Tim and Darlene Wade, Jennifer Wade, Jeremy Wade and Riley Carter were also in attendance there. Remember the sick, lost and those who have lost loved ones including the Curtis Bowen Family, the Geraldine Hite Family and the ‘Pee Wee’ Elliott Family BIRTHDAYS: Oscar Chandler, Leslie Puryear, James Wade, Jamie Kerr, Linda Humphries, Lois Cassada, Johnny Noblin, Zachary Loftis, Tim Loftis, Holly Loftis, Thomas Bailey, Justin Wilkins, Martha Szynklewski, Lynn Good, Wendy Knott, Cynthia Childrey, Mitch Overby.
