Prizery summer musicals spurred commerce, travel, spending

The Prizery’s inaugural Summer Theatre Celebration was more than three lively, professional musicals that left you whistling for days. It was potentially the start of an economy-revving, destination-making, people-employing annual summer tradition. The plays created 28 new temporary jobs (four to local folks), expanded the hours of The Prizery’s existing hourly employees, put money in the community and attracted a surprising percentage of ticket-buyers from outside Halifax County. In addition, some local businesses reported an uptick in sales that they attribute directly to the performances.

The ball will be held Sept. 18, at The Prizery in South Boston. Ticket prices continue to remain the same - $75 per person.
