It’s hard to be good, noble, and a role model. Everyone is always watching, waiting for the fall. Your enemies are always hoping they can trip you up and bring you down. Such is the life of Robin Hood, defender of the poor and the underfed. In Halifax County High School’s production of “The SOMEWHAT True Tale of Robin Hood,” the hero must battle his enemies to save the town and win the hand of the woman he loves.

Quilting as art at Prizery

Ralph Wileman was inspired to showcase the beauty of quilts and the considerable charity of the North Halifax Volunteer Fire Department after hearing the quilters’ story: They have donated more than $50,000 to the firehouse over the years thanks to their fine handiwork. Among the quilters is 92-year-old Jettie Waller of Nathalie. “North Halifax Quilting Ladies: Hand-quilting at its Finest” opens at The Prizery arts center next Sunday, March 21, 1-3 p.m. with a free reception just before the performance of the Rainier Piano Trio.
“North Halifax Quilting Ladies: Hand-quilting at its Finest,” a exhibition of beautiful hand-sewn quilts sponsored by the Parsons-Bruce Art Association, opens at The Prizery arts center this coming Sunday, March 21, with a free reception just prior to the performance by the Rainier Piano Trio. It will remain hanging through May.

Robin Hood is the quintessential hero; he’s brave, he’s generous, and everyone loves him. While there are many tales surrounding his legend, most contain the similar theme of Robin’s saving England from evil tyrants. The Halifax County High School Drama Department presents to us a more updated version of Robin’s adventure to save the good people of England: The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood.
