52 year old Halifax County man died at the scene of a single vehicle crash early Sunday morning, April 27, 2008 after losing control of his vehicle in a sharp curve. William Henry Elliott of Bill Tuck Highway, South Boston was the driver of a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee which veered off the left side of State Route 613 (Terry's Bridge Road), about two-tenths mile east of its intersection with US Route 360 at 2:24 a.m. Elliott, who was east bound on the curving road, was declared dead at the scene at 2:35 a.m. after the vehicle struck a tree and overturned,
partially ejecting him. He reportedly was not wearing a seat belt. Virginia State Trooper D.H. Hess was the investigating officer with the accident still under investigation. Elliott's death brings to eight the number of highway fatalities recorded on Halifax County highways in 2008. Funeral arrangements for Mr. Elliott, who was a foreman at Climate Control, Inc. and a member of Grace Baptist Church. were incomplete at press time. He is survived by his wife, Debra W. Elliott, two sons, William Justin Elliott and Jared Wayne Elliott, a daughter, Jenna Nicole Elliott and
a step son, Brian Epps and wife, Christi, all of South Boston, his father John K. Elliott of Halifax, his mother, Gladys Phillips Elliott of South Boston, three sisters, Gladys Murray and Donna Talley of Virgilina, Patsy Bewer of Nelson and two brothers, Charles Danny Elliott of Scottsburg and John Randolph Elliott of South Boston and
special relative, Brad Rice of Virgilina.
