Donald M. Edmunds, 40, of West Forrest Drive, South Boston was arrested
on Thursday, February 28 and charged with the first degree murder of 19
year old Timothy J. Marshall of South Boston. Marshall’s body was found
earlier on Saturday, February 23 on the driveway entrance to Greens
Folly Country Club. After sending the body to the State Medical
Examiner’s Office in Richmond, it was determined that he had died of a
single stab wound to the upper chest.
According to Captain B. K. Lovelace of the South Boston Police
Department, Edmunds is charged with willfully, deliberately and with
premeditation killing and murdering Marshall in the first degree. He is
currently being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax with no
bond set.
No information was available as to where the stabbing may have taken
place or any details of any conflict that may have preceded the
incident.
Lovelace thanked concerned citizens for the information they had
provided throughout the investigation and for their patience in
allowing police time to thoroughly investigate the crime. He said South
Boston Police were assisted in the investigation by members of the
Halifax County Sheriff’s Department and the Virginia State Police.
