RUBBER DUCK SEASON OPENS IN SOUTH BOSTON  On Saturday, May 17th 5,000
rubber ducks will be launched into the Dan River Downtown for a race with the duck adoptive parents having a chance at over $10,000 in prizes!
 
Its here- the first annual Ducks On The Dan Derby Duck Race. Destination Downtown South Boston, Inc. is the presenting sponsor along with several other local Halifax County charities and corporate sponsors. For just a $5 donation you will have the opportunity to adopt a duck(s) in the race to win one of the many prizes including
the First Place Grand Prize of $5,000 CASH! Its a charity fundraising event where 5,000 adopted, numbered rubber ducks are dropped into the Dan River and waddle toward a finish line with the adoptive parents having a chance to win any of the great prizes. from the event will go to Destination Downtown South Boston, Inc. and their efforts in saving Historic Downtown buildings from demolition and the restoration and revitalization of the Historic Downtown Business District to preserve our Heritage. Also, part of the proceeds will go to several Halifax County charities.   Join us for a Family Fun Day in Downtown South Boston's Constitution Square from 12 noon to 4 pm on Saturday, May 17th. You can have a picnic in the park with BBQ and other goodies available plus kids games and activities (Inflatables that you have to see to believe) and karaoke music with a DJ. The duck race is at 2 pm. Winners will be announced in the Square following the race. Winners need not be present to win.
